About The Complexity School

More than half of the world population now lives in cities globally. It is expected that by 2050, more than two thirds of the world population will move to cities. Given this rapid urbanization process worldwide, cities are becoming increasingly complex, a situation that needs new ideas to look at and deal with and harnessing cities becomes one of the most important challenges in human history in the 21st Century. The Complexity School, supported by the Complexitics Institute, is a network of international scholars with an interest in approaching and managing cities through complexity science, or complexitics, in order to make the world a better place to live. In particular, we look at cities as complex systems and solve various urban problems through planning and management for urban development that derives from sound scientific findings. The ultimate goal of the Complexity School is to lead the scientific advancement in the 21st Century through understanding and solving urban complexity.

關於複雜學派

目前全球有一半以上的人口居住在城市中。估計到2050年全球將會有三分之二的人口遷移到城市。在這個全世界快速城市化過程中，城市變得越來越複雜，形成一個需要以新的觀念來檢視並面對的情況，而駕馭城市已成為21世紀人類歷史所面臨的最大挑戰。由「複雜學研究社」支持的複雜學派是一個國際學術社群，其宗旨在從複雜性科學(或複雜學)來面對並管理城市，進而改善全球的居住環境。尤其是，我們視城市為複雜系統，並以穩固的科學發現為基礎，同時透過城市發展的規劃與管理來解決各種城市問題。複雜學派最終的目標是透過理解及解決城市複雜來引領21世紀的科學發展。
